Founders Maddie and Rob Julian, know first hand how difficult life can be with type 1 diabetes, when their son was diagnosed at 20 months old. The UK has one of the highest rates of type 1 diabetes in the world with over 29,000 children effected. With NHS resources stretched thin and using a mostly paper based system, families often struggle to self-manage this complex disorder.
Feeling lost and realising that thousands of other parents must be struggling with understand how to provide the best care for their loved ones with type 1 diabetes, the Digitbete initiative was born. The Digibete platform has been designed in collaboration with patients and families to make it, not only user-friendly, but to provide all the materials the average user would need. The team have also worked very closely with NHS Digital to ensure all of their content meets safety standards.
